Sweatin’ On: Bomber Jackets
One Saturday back when I was in high school I jetted over to the mall with some hard-earned cash from spending the morning helping my dad cut down trees. I finally had enough funds to buy the floral bomber jacket from Contempo Casuals that I had been admiring. It was black with pink flowers and sequins, and in my 14 year old mind, so, so chic. I remember wearing it to a teen dance party at St. Margaret’s and feeling confident (just like you, Nick Miller). The fond memories of this jacket came rushing back to me in LA when I spotted the Active Bomber Jacket in Lorna Jane. I knew I had to have it. When the sales lady showed me a photo of the Daisy Fever Bomber Jacket that was not yet in stock, I almost squealed with delight. I need that one too! If anyone needs their trees trimmed or their yard raked, call me. I need some extra cash.
I’ve been kicking around in the Active Bomber Jacket for a couple of weeks now, and I love it. It looks great with sweatpants and high tops, and equally cool with a striped top, jeans, and flats (I tried this out in SF). I expect we’ll see more bomber styles from activewear designers because this type of jacket fits perfectly into the studio to street vision that so many of them are embracing. A few more options include the adidas by Stella McCartney Run Crop Jacket ($200), Free People’s Love Story Quilted Bomber ($168), and Topshop’s Jordan Color Block Bomber Jacket ($116).
