Music Monday: Wham!
The weather is a wee bit warmer in Boston these days, which means that everyone is gearing up for spring. I’ve even spotted a few sandals around town, which is pretty cray cray, given it is still in the 50s. But, Summertime Lovers, I feel you. You’ll be hitting those beaches soon. To get you ready, I’m dedicating this week’s Music Monday post to one my favorite songs. I don’t know where “Club Tropicana” is, but I want to go there, especially if that means I get to hang out with George & Andrew. And I couldn’t write a post about Wham! without giving a shout out to my fellow friends in GM – Pip, Janine, and Christy. WE LOVE GEORGE FOREVER.
Let me take you to the place where membership’s a smiling face:
I want to LIVE in Club Tropicana. And I want to be half as cool as those two gals that are in many of Wham’s videos. But let’s talk about some clothes. Sweaty Betty’s Boyfriend Sunset Run Tee, with its lovely print of dusk on an island, channels the atmosphere of Club Tropicana. I have this tee in another print and I adore it. It’s roomy enough that it sort of slips off my shoulder, and so I paired it with bright sports bra. It is also on the longer side and hugs around the hips, which means it stays in place when I bend over or go upside down. And the fabric is quick-drying, so you won’t stay sweaty.
I paired the tee with some equally roomy pants from Alternative Apparel, which means this outfit is geared towards a yoga or barre class, rather than an intense run or boot camp session. You can take this outfit out of the studio (and to the beach!) by throwing on a lightweight sweater like the one from Central Park West below. Don some sandals and a Panama Hat and you are ready to “brush shoulders with the stars”.

This is me pretending to be in Club Tropicana a few years ago, when I was really in a bar in Detroit. Drinks were not free, but there was enough fun and (fake) sunshine for everyone.
